MTVSpool Version 2.02 Read Me File
What one has received in this distribution is the single print server
version of MTVSpool, a workstation based non-dedicated distributed print
service for Novell NetWare 2.1 and above. MTVSpool has gone through two
minor revisions (bug fixes) since being uploaded to BIX and other bulletin
boards late last year. The following is a breakdown of the fixes:
MTVSpool Version 2.01 -
o Fixed the printer servicing routine's logic to keep it from timing
out with printers which take a long time to clock data in from the
parallel interface. This time-out problem caused MTVSpool to print
very slowly on some printers (e.g. Panasonic KXP-1124).
MTVSpool Version 2.02 -
o Increased the MTVSpool's stack size to keep it from hanging the
machine due to stack overflow, which was usually caused by machines
which have several active interrupt driven interfaces (i.e two or
more COM: ports, mouse, NIC, etc...).
o Added a more robust interrupt-in-service check to allow MTVSpool to
favor lower priority interrupts (MTVSpool hooks IRQ0) such as the
keyboard and COM ports.
o Added get/set preferred server routines to allow MTVSpool to be
able to handle those instances where a user might be attached
to more than one server.
In addition, anyone having questions about MTVSpool may contact me
via BIX Mail under the account name MVANDITTA. If one is not familiar
with BIX, it is the Byte Information Exchange. The charge for BIX is a
flat rate of $39.00 for a three month subscription with a $3.00 per hour
telecomm charge for off-peak usage and $6.00 per hour telecomm charge for
on-peak usage. If one uses BIX a lot like myself, then one may wish to
register for the $20.00 per month flat rate telecomm service which allows
unlimited off-peak usage. One may become a registered BIX user by calling
BIX Customer Support @ (800) 227-2983. I look forward to hearing from
those users who are interested in using MTVSpool.
